What is with the point system by our names on the left hand side of the forums? Example last time I check mine said I had 32 points.......

I think the answer lies directly below your name.
When I started I was a Chimp / then a Monkey / and now a Monkey Leader. I am not sure if there was anything else.
It is intended to indicate how much knowledge a user has.
It could also be used to state how much SPAM you create.
I mean - look at Druid and Drags.
If I keep this up - I'll be an Admin sooner or later. Hehe
Ummmm - maybe I should shut up. I Don't want to give them any ideas.

Activate it in Modules -> Point System

How are points calculated?
- Points generated by the number of posts
- Points generated by the number of topics created
- Points generated by the number of friends that the user has
- Reputation points
- Points generated by the registration date of the member
- Points generated by the number of message on his profile

The board administrator can change many settings for this feature.
